We are passionate about meeting our community's real needs..
Check out the ways you can make a difference! Our Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG)
The Rise Church BHAG: End hunger and food insecurity in our neighborhood. This is the overarching goal around which we organize congregational efforts, and give our talents, time and energy.
Currently we have: crop table, community gardens, beans/oil/rice for Western Farm Workers, meals for Family Promise, work days at food banks, our Tigard Food Project (part of The Neighborhood Food Program), and The Great Potato Project. Read more below.
The Great Potato Project
Rise members, friends and neighbors combine grow bags, dirt, and seed potatoes at home, to produce fresh grown potatoes that are then donated to area food banks. Last year we harvested around 900 pounds of spuds. This year, we’re aiming for a ton.
For more information or if you would like to participate, contact Tom Cronkrite.
Tigard Food Project
On the second Sunday of even numbered months, Rise members, friends and neighbors deliver their reusable green bag to the church filled with non-perishable food items. The food is weighed and then distributed to area food banks.
If you want to be a Food Donor, collect non-perishable food on an ongoing basis, an item or 2 every trip to the grocery store. Then store that food at home until the Tigard Food Project Sunday.

Templeton Food Backpack Program
Templeton Elementary School has a weekend food program and food pantry at the school designed to support families experiencing food insecurity. Food is donated by churches and businesses, packed at the school, and sent home with the kids.

Western Farm Workers
We work with this organization that provides support for local, mostly Hispanic, low income, hardworking families in Washington County.
In addition to monetary support, in the winter we sponsor a “rice, beans, and oil” food drive to assist with food staples during this lowest income time of year.
Food Bank
Non-perishable items are collected year-round and donated to the local Food Bank at St. Anthony’s Church. Donations can be dropped off in the bin in the Fellowship Hall.
Community Garden and Crop Table
Located on the east side of Rise Church, sixteen raised garden beds produce all kinds of fresh produce. As the gardens are harvested, produce is distributed for free each Sunday on the Rise Church crop table. Community members regularly stop by to pick up fresh food and often share with their neighbors.
Holiday Mission Marketplace
In December, fair trade items including coffee and chocolate are offered for sale. Proceeds go toward our mission programs.
Union Gospel Life Change for Women and Their Children
This organization provides a place where women can recover from the ill effects of alcohol and drugs, while still being with their children.
Our Men’s Bible Study contributes and delivers milk monthly.

We work with Tigard-Tualatin School District’s Caring Closet by collecting coats and other specially requested item for school age children.
Linen Closet
We partner with Love, INC to provide new and gently used linen items including pillows, comforters, and towels to families in the community.

Family Promise
Rise Church is a partner church in Family Promise of Tualatin Valley. Family Promise is a network of religious and civic organizations that provide shelter, meals, resource assistance and a path to sustainable housing.
The church provides meals for families, multiple times during the year.
Family Promise recently received a grant, purchased a motel in Tigard and is the process of converting it to temporary housing where families can live while they receive support services and assistance in finding employment and permanent housing. If you would like to contribute contact patrica.saier@gmail.com or jhibbs1947@comcast.net
Helping the Houseless Community
As Washington County has centralized shelter services, Rise Church no longer offers an overnight shelter after two decades of providing this service. However, being a friend to our houseless neighbors remains a deep commitment of Rise Church. We continue to directly support Family Promise of Tualatin Valley and their ongoing effort to end the cycle of homelessness. We provide regular outreach meals to the houseless in our community. And we continue to advocate for the needs of the houseless in our community.
Red Cross Blood Drive
We will provide the facility and volunteers for the local blood drive when needed.
Recovery Center
This organization's mission is to provide compassionate care to people whose health and quality of life are compromised by alcohol, drugs, and mental health challenges. We provide a collection point for items the residents may need, but we also are a welcoming congregation where we worship, eat and serve together. Donations can be left at the church office.
In Our World-Missionary Support we stay connected to an extensive network of missionaries who help us understand the needs of those in communities around the world.
