For those who enjoy a big jazz band, The New Horizons Big Band will be showcased in a holiday concert at Rise on Saturday, December 7th, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

The New Horizons Big Band is an 18-member community band led by Brad Davis, professional trumpet player, who co-founded the band eleven years ago with Suzanne Short. The band plays arrangements of Big Band Jazz, Swing, Latin and American Songbook Standards.

The New Horizons Big Band performs community concerts and events throughout the Portland Metro Area, including Vancouver, WA and as far south as Salem, OR. The band is a chapter of the New Horizons International Music Association, which is an organization committed to expanding music-making opportunities for adults, especially for those 50+ years of age.

The mission of the New Horizons Big Band is to maintain the accessibility of big band music so that it’s available to be performed live by community musicians for the enjoyment of local audiences.
